TIP: BEING A SECOND HAND ADDICT

As you know by now (if you follow), I’m a big fan of second hand and vintage. I simply love having things that you just cannot find in a regular clothing shop. Also I love the fact that clothes have a history, so to speak, and that the chances that I’ll run into someone wearing the same as me, are  pretty much non-excisting.
I though I would share a few great second hand shopping tips with you – both for shopping in physical shops and online. I’ll also link my favorite online shops.

Physical second hand shopping

When I go second hand shopping, I always go into the small shops. If you find a big shop there is a good chance that they know the actual value of the items, and therefore the prices will be higher. If you go to small second hand shops, like ones with a charity purpose, the prices will be better. Find out when they are getting new stuff, and make sure you have time to find treasures – it can take hours to find good stuff! Always(!!!) make sure the items are fine. It’s easy to overlook something, and a real disappointment to come home and find that something is wrong. It’s allowed to negotiate the price if you buy a lot. But have in mind the charity cause and make a fair deal.

Online second hand shopping

Always make sure what the final cost is. Some sellers write the price without the shipping included, and you need to make sure what the shipping price for your country is. Also make sure you know the tax rules when shopping online. The rules are different depending on the distance between seller and buyer (Denmark, Europe, USA, China and so on). If you have to pay 25% in tax and 20$ for shipping, maybe the total cost will be way to high compared to the item you’ll get. Always have these things in mind before bidding and buying.
If you are just as much into second hand as I am, you have to check out these online vintage and second hand shops. Vintage Magpies, Morfars Moustache, Trashy Vintage. Ebay and Asos Marketplace are also worth your attention.
